Kwankwaso Gives Major Reason The National Assembly Should Not Be In A Hurry To Impeach Buhari

Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has waded into the ongoing controversies bothering on the impeachment moves against President Muhammadu Buhari by the National Assembly members.

Minority caucus of the upper legislative assembly had on Tuesday made an Impeachment moves against the president in protest against the intractable security crisis rocking the country.

The senators led by the minority leader of the Senate cited gross incompetence of the president to secure the Nation as their reason for setting out to Impeach him. They issued president Buhari with six weeks Ultimatum to address the problem or face impeachment proceedings at the expiration of the deadline.

Speaking on the development during his courtesy visit to the Givenror of Kwara state, Abdulazeez Abdurazak on Friday, Senator Musa Kwankwaso disclosed that the Senators should not be in a hurry to impeach the president.

According to him, the current situation is a National problem and everyone is affected. He explained that it is not like the president is not doing anything but it is just that his efforts to crush badits are not yielding expected result.

Kwankwaso noted that the president men were recently attacked with two soldiers killed in the attack. This could happen to anybody in the country. The present situation calls for collective efforts by everyone.

Impeachment moves against the president is a mere distraction that will only aggravate the problem. Senator Kwakwanso noted that the senators do not have enough numbers to carry out the impeachment.

Hence, they should deploy their energy to something more productive for Nigeria and suggest how to solve the problem instead of engaging in something that may create confusion and constitutional crisis in the long run. Kwankwaso said.
