Negotiating With Bandits Without Govt. Support Is Frustrating- Tuku Mamu, Train Victims Negotiator Opens Up
Tuku Mamu, the negotiator for the victims of Abuja-Kaduna Train attack has expressed his disatisfaction over the continuous silence of federal government on the victims who have spent over a hundred days in the Forest.
Tuku Mamu who featured on Thursday edition of Arise TV Morning Show explained how difficult the assignment has been for him. He disclosed that he is the one the Bandits are relating with based on trust.
Each time he gets a message from them, he would communicate to government but nothing will be done. He revealed that the captives are going through a terrible situation in captivity and expect government to have devised a means of securing their release since they have been there.
According to him, all the bandits want is discussion with government. They are only using him to voice out their anger and demands. Mamu noted that his main concern is about the victims and not what the Bandits really want from government.
If government wants to use force to secure the victims, it can go ahead and if it is through negotiation, it should be done. All that matters is for the captives to be released. They have stayed too long in the bush and it is not good for them medically and psychologically.
The negotiator made it known that if not because of the sympathy he has for the victims, he will not involve himself in such a deal. The reason the bandits chose to talk to him is still strange to him.
Mamu stated this on Arise TV Morning Show on Thursday.
