Despite Loud Cheers That Greeted Obi’s Presence At RCCG Convention, Pastor Adeboye Keeps Mum On The Pulpit

Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi, on Friday night, attended the ongoing convention at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, for the first time and his presence was greeted with a loud ovation from the crowd.

For about 2 minutes after his name was mentioned by the programme anchor, the entire congregation was completely lost in the delirium of joy as they cheered and jeered the former governor of Anambra State for daring to show up at the Redemption Camp.

The 70th Convention, which commenced earlier in the week, is taking place at The Redemption City, formerly known as Redemption Camp, in Mowe, Ogun State.

However, Obi’s chief host, pastor E.A Adeboye after mounting the pulpit did not speak about his presence neither did mention anything regarding the forthcoming presidential election in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians have expected the man of God to touch the political or National matter during the introductory part of his sermon but he simply ignored that aspect and went straight to the business of the day.

The visit to the convention is the first for the presidential candidate since he has been a player in the Nigerian politics.

The development comes days after Obi received a standing ovation from worshippers at Dunamis international gospel centre in Abuja.

However, Obi is not the first politician to visit the RCCG camp ground during the church’s convention, as it has been the usual custom for politicians vying for elective positions to visit the church and seek God’s blessings in the buildup of the general election.

The 2022 RCCG convention is the 70th edition for the church.
