Gunmen Demand 50b Naira As Ransom After Abducting A Catholic Reverend Father In Abia

Gunmen terroring the peace of the South East region of the country appear to have landed another big catch after kidnapping a reverend father in Abia State over the weekend.

The abduction is coming on the heels of series of kidnappings that have been taking place in the region in the last few weeks. Most of the Priests kidnapped so far have been catholic priests which has continued to trigger controversies across the country.

The recent abduction of Reverend Father Chinedu Nwadike, another Catholic priest, was said to have been carried out by gunmen believed to be bandits along the Okigwe – Enugu expressway in Umunneochi council area of the State.

The Reverend Father who is also reported to be the Deputy Registrar of Spiritan University Nneochi (SUN), was kidnapped alongside a seminarian while on their way to Enugu for an official assignment.

According to report published on Channels TV, their abductors reportedly contacted the school management to demand a sum of fifty billion naira as ransom.

The State Police command have not yet issued an official statement on the matter neither has the Catholic Diocese of Abia State made a comment on the abduction.
