Catholic priest, seminarian regain freedom days after kidnap

Two people who were kidnapped in the eastern part of Nigeria have been released by their abductors.

On Friday, Rev Fr Chinedu Nwadike and seminarian, Emmanuel Nwafor, were kidnapped on the Enugu-Okigwe expressway.

N50m ransom was demanded as the condition for their release, but it is uncleare if that amount was paid.

The men of God were released around the Nnochi-Ihube axis, the same area they were kidnapped on Friday.

A source said, “Do kindly rejoice with us, my relative, Rev’d Fr Dr Chinedu Nwadike, has eventually regained freedom. He and the seminarian were released Sunday evening unhurt to the glory of God.

“We express our grateful appreciation for your prayers. May God bless you.”

The priest’s younger brother, Chikezie Nwadike, said that the family was grateful to God for the release of his elder brother and the seminarian.
