Before the declaration, two of the Election commisoners were said to have rejected the outcome of the poll over what they described as “Opaque vote counts”.

The move further triggered conflicts and riots between supporters of the two leading candidates, Williams Ruto and Ralia Odinga during the process. There were reprots of physical confrontation, breaking of bottles and ballot boxes at different part of the country.

Following the declaration of Williams Ruto amidst the reported crisis, Odinga through his spokesman described the result and decalaration as illegal, insisting he would not accept the result.

Asked if Williams Ruto can be sworn-in with the way things are going especially with the opposition candidate rejecting the result, Akinyemi said he would stick out his neck by assuring everyone that the winner will be sworn-in.

He revealed that any attempt to overturn the Ruto’s victory will consequently plung the country into abyss of unmanagable crisis that will further cripple the economy and peace of the country.

According to the erudite professor of international relations, the Kenya Electoral Tribunal will begin soon and the country’s judicial system will be put to test. But he knows some of their Supreme Court Judges who are reliable, trustworthy and can be objective in a situation like this.

Akinyemi expressed his assurance that Williams Ruto will be sworn-in at the end of the day.
