Fani Kayode Explains Reason He Is Supporting Tinubu & The APC He Once Spoke Against In The Past

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has given reason he would throw his weight behind the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of the party at the poll in 2023.

The Ex-Minister stated this during a special interview on Channels TV Politics Today on Wednesday. He spoke on varieties of issues including the lingering crisis that is rocking the party especially on the Tinubu Shettima ticket

FFK who had been a major opposition voice in the country and once castigated and lampooned the APC administration, caught many Nigerians unaware when he ammounced his defection to the APC about a year ago.

Since he made the moves, nothing much has been heard from him in the media about the state of the Nation.

While appearing on Channels TV Politics Today, he was asked the reason he chose to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy and the APC ahead of 2023 despite all he had said against the party in the past.

Giving his reason, Fani-Kayode said the APC he is supporting now is different to the same APC he spoke against that time. He said the party has changed completely. Everything he spoke against that time has been corrected and the party has got several things right.

According to him, APC has changed in all ways and its members have embraced the rule of laws, equity and inclusion in their politics.

He noted that the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not have been made possible if the Northern Governors have not embraced the principle of equity and justice.

He claimed that the Northern political leaders especially the governors won his interest and respect the day they agreed that APC ticket should go to South and discourage their aspirants from contesting the primary.

If the Northern governors have not conceded the ticket to the South, it would have been impossible for Tinubu to win no matter how strategic or influential he might be. That singular act of northern Governors won his interest and also a proof that APC has really changed for better.

Unlike the PDP where the presidential candidate is from the North. Party chairman is a northerner. BTO chairman and other key positions in the party are occupied by the northerners. If this is  happening while in opposition, what then will happen if PDP eventually form the government at the centre?

He described his support and loyalty to APC and Tinubu as unconditional. APC is not the same party he spoke against in those days. They have now changed.

Fani Kayode stated this while featuring on Wednesday edition of Channels TV Politics Today.
