PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar Reveals 3 Secrets To Lead Nigeria Out Of Electricity Problems

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has pointed out three methods he will use to ensure Nigeria overcomes the constant electricity problems that have bedevilled the country for many years.

Atiku made this revelation in a statement he issued on Thursday. The statement was said to have been issued in response to the lingering crisis between the federal government and the Electricity Workers which led to the shutting down of power system and plunged the entire nation into darkness on Wednesday.

According to the former vice president of Nigeria, his convenant with Nigeria is the most proactive plan to lead the country out of darkness.

One of the ways he plans to achieve this is to remove power from the exclusive list and allow states to have a control over power. What this simply means is that, the control of electricity will be included in the concurrent list of the constitution.

The states will be able to generate power within their jurisdiction and supply to their people.

According to him, there is no sense in it for electricity workers to shut down their operation in Abuja because of a disagreement with the federal government and all states in Nigeria will be plunged into darkness.

Hence, the best way to avoid this occurrence is to ensure a devolution of electricity power.

Secondly, the former vice president disclossed that he will allow more investment capacity in the power sector. He explained that he will initiate a policy that will create investment in additional generation capacity in the entire Electricity value chain.

According to him, any investment in additional generation capacity would be competitively procured considering a viable mix of renewable and non-renewable options for energy security.

“Lastly, Atiku Abubakar stated that ahead of procuring additional generation, both transmission and distribution capacities would be enhanced with government and private sector support for investments.

In order word, the government will overseer the activities of the sector in order to ensure efficiency and sabotage by the operators.

Atiku made this known in a statement issued on Thursday.
