Real Reason NBC Orders AIT, STV And Their Radio Stations To Be Shut Down Within 24 Hours
Barring any last minute moves by their managements, two of the nation’s leading Television and Radio Stations are set to be shut down by the National Broadcasting Commission within the next 24 hours.
The commison has announced the revocation of the broadcasting Licenses of the affected stations on Friday.
The decision was taken by the regulatory commission over the failure of the TV and Radio Stations to renew their broadcasting Licenses after their expiration.
The television stations involved in this controversies are African Independent Television, AIT, Silverbird Television, STV as well as their FM stations which include Raypower and Rhythm FM.
According to the Director General of NBC, Mallam Balarabe Shehu, who disclosed this on Friday, all the affected stations should be shut down within the next 24 hours.
The DG has therefore directed its state offices to liaise with security agencies to ensure of the shut down of operation of these stations within the given timeframe.
While AIT and Raypower is owned by a PDP Chieftain, Chief Aleigho Dokpesi, Silverbird and Rhythm FM is also owned by PDP starwalt and former Nigerian Senator, Ben Muray Bruce.
