One Key Statement That Unites Atiku, Obi & Shettima’s Speeches At NBA 2022 Conference

The 62nd Annual General Meeting of the  Nigerian Bar Association which was held at Eko Hotel and Suites on monday has become a major talking point for Nigerians both on the social and mainstream media.

The legal professional body began the 2022 annual conference on August 19 and it is expected to end on 24th.

However, the Monday edition of the programme was a complete package of intellectual engagement which the body is generally known for.

It was an occasion that provided an ample opportunity for the presidential candidates of various political parties to present a sneak-peak of their manifestoes that will enable Nigerians know what to expect ahead of 2023 election campaign.

The three leading candidates for the election, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima all took Nigerians on a memory lane and reeld out solution they intend to provide if elected president next year.

The candidates gave an exhaustive analysis to the myriad of challenges confronting the nation and how they plan to approach them one after the other so as to get Nigeria out of the current wood it is.

While making his presentation, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar disclosed that things have never been this bad since Nigeria returned to democratic dispensation in 1999.

Abubakar did not only expose the problems Nigeria is facing as leadership problem, he also gave an insight into how he intends to tackle it if elected as president. As far as he is concerned, the federal system that is being operated is too large and complex to be managed by the federal government.

He therefore intends to devolve power to the the states for more effective governance. According to him, if the federal power is broken down into state levels, the burden of running the country will be minimal by the president.

Atiku also plans to create a conducive environment for private investors and encourage more private investments in the education sector.

On his part, Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party also identified leadership problem as the major bane of Nigeria. Come 2023, Peter Obi advised Nigerians to jettison ethnic, tribe and religious sentiment in choosing the next president but should vote for character and competence.

Peter Obi was of the opinion that if Nigeria can get it right with the right choice of leadership, everything will come back to normal.

Obi in his usual characteristic manner reeeled out statistics of how much is being stolen daily from the cofer, crude oil and how the country is currently haemoraging financially due to corruption. He promised to block all those leackages and make Nigeria self reliance in production if elected.

For Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Nigeria will become a replica of Lagos and Borno if Tinubu is elected next year.

He explained how they will use the same experience as former governors of their states to transform Nigeria into a properous Nation. Like others, Shettima did not also shy away from the fact that the country is currently experiencing a dearth of quality leadership.

Despite representing their various political parties, the three leading presidential candidates were able to maintain a common ground that leadership problem is the primary crisis Nigeria is facing as a country.

If the right leader is elected, people’s oriented-policies can be formulated and consequently translate into the gain of the Nation.
