ASUU Should Know They Are Dealing With Inept, Clueless Govt. That Has No Answer To Their Question- ADC Presidential Candidate 

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Dumebi Kachikwu has appealed to the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities to reconsider their stance in the ongoing crisis between the Union and the federal government.

ASUU has reportedly been on strike for over 170 days and still counting. Despite all efforts and meetings to resolve the problem, it did not yield any result.

Recently, the lecturers have given a condition to the government that all their salaries for six months they have been on strike should be cleared before they can return to the classroom.

The federal government has however insisted that it won’t pay the blacklog of salaries for their inactivities.

Speaking on the situation while featuring on the Wednesday edition of Channels TV Politics Today, the candidate of the ADC said ASUU should make a sacrifice in the interest of the poor students that are bearing the cost of the strike.

According to him, if the Strike continues till the next one year, this government cannot meet their demands. He noted that the government does not have a solution to the current economic problems and it only counting down till the expiration of the administration.

Dumebi explained that most of the students who are victims of ASUU Strike are Children of the poor Nigerians. The people who cannot afford the exorbitant price of private universities or send their children outside the country to study.

He revealed that if children of the high profile Nigerians or government officials are schooling in public universities, the strike would have been called off long before now. It would not have lasted for a month.

He therefore called on ASUU to make a sacrifice for the sake of the innocent children who have been out of the classroom.
