30-Year Old Pregnant Woman Gives Birth While Waiting For Free Delivery Kits At Distribution Center
An expectant mother who was reportedly delivered of her baby at a kits distribution center in Kano State.
The 30-year old woman known as Hadiza Ayuba had visited the distribution center located at Dawkin Kudu Local Government area of the state to collect her free baby kits when she reportedly went into labour.
The distribution of free baby items was the initiative of Honorable Mustapha Bala Dawaki, the federal lawmaker who is representing Dawakin Kidi and Warawa Federal Constituency in the state. It was organized in collaboration with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
According to the report in Daily Trust, there was a maternity lecture organised for the participants at the venue. The lecture was delivered by maternity nurses and community medicine personnel of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Shortly after the lecture, Hadiza went into labour just as the nurses and other mothers at the venue rallied round her. Within the twinkle of an eye, she reportedly gave birth to a baby girl. The baby came while she was still waiting to collect her own baby kits which the officials began to distribute immediately after the lecture.
She was aided by seasoned and experienced matrons and nurses from AKTH to deliver successfully and she proposed to name her newborn baby, Fatima.
It was gathered that over 1,000 pregnant and nursing mothers have received delivery and baby kits along with other domestic plastic materials from all wards of Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas.
Before this time, the expecting and nursing mothers had undergone a series of lectures on signs of early pregnancy, precautions, Dos and Don’ts, signs of delivery and immunization for healthy living
Nurses Ummi Nasir Ma’aruf and Shema’u Mahmoud of the antennal department, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, cautioned pregnant mothers to be wary of delivering at home while tasking them on healthy dieting, regular intake of fruits and vegetables and observance of immunization from day one to 23 months of birth.
