Former Head Of State, Abdusalami Reveals How The Younger Ones Can Retire The Old Politicians

Former Nigerian head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar has identified the qualities that should he found in whoever will take over the affairs of the country from the present administration of president Muhammadu Buhari.

The former military head of state revealed this while hosting the presidential candidate of Accord Party, Professor Chris Imumolen in his Minna Country home on Friday.

Imumolen had visited the octogenarian as part of Nation wide consultation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

While discussing the situation of the country in relation to the next general elections, Abdulsalami revealed that Nigeria needs vibrant, youthful and visionary leaders that will steer the country on the path of glory.

He noted that the country needs someone who possesses these qualities to seize the Initiaves and retire the fading breed of the old politicians.

The elderstatesman is expecting the old ones to fade away and allow the young and youthful people to take over the reins of government if the country must work. But the youths must show the spirit of readiness for the task.

“What we can do as former leaders is to mentor and tutor them in whatever way we can in order for them to lead the country. As a matter of fact, this is the time Nigerians should begin to support young, vibrant and visionary leaders that would steer the country on the path of glory.”

Speaking earlier to a retinue of reporters at the home of the former leader and elder statesman, Professor Imumolen had reiterated his stance on the role the next generation of leaders like him should play in taking the country to its promised land.

“We need to reposition the country on the path of development and sustainable growth,” he said.
