Why Would Peter Obi Save Anambra Money When He Wasn’t A Banker During His Tenure?- Adebayo Shittu Queries 

Former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Peter Obi has been a subject of public discussion since he threw his hat into the ring ahead of 2023 general election.

On Thursday, former minister of Communication Technology, Adebayo Shittu while appearing on a TV program, Daily Politics identified some of the dents that questioned the integrity of Obi’s administration while in power in Anambra State.

Peter Obi was a two time governor of his state and he has been widely commended for his ability to prune down the cost of governance which consequently translated to more money in Anambra state government coffers during and after his tenure.

He was said to have left more money in government account than any other Governor that had governed the state before him and since he left the government, that legacy appears to still be speaking for him till now.

He is also said to be riding on the back of that sterling record in his current journey to Aso Rock ahead of 2023.

Countering the belief however is Adebayo Shittu on Thursday. While he was being told by his anchor that Peter Obi helped Anambra to save money during his time and also left billions of naira in the government coffer, Adebayo Shittu disagreed with the views and identified what is wrong with that idea.

According to the former minister, is Peter Obi a banker to be saving money? He is expected to use people’s money to build infrastructures and turn the economic situation around but he kept it in the bank for no reason.

He challenged the programme anchor to visit Anambra and find out if there is any reasonable legacy that can promote the image of the Labour Party presidential candidate as being promoted on social media.

Shittu insisted that Obi had no reason to save Anambra money while in government. He should have rather spent it for people to see what it was spent on.
