A Pauper Can’t Contest Election In Nigeria, Tinubu Had Made Money Before Joining Politics- Dele Alake

Former Lagos State commissioner for Information and strategy, Mr Dele Alake has given an insight into the source of income of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In the last few days, there has been controversies trailing how Tinubu made his money that he became so wealthy enough to be donating money across the country and also contesting the presidential election.

Many Nigerians are of the opinions that he owns some companies in Lagos through which he generates fund and he is also getting money from governor of the state whom he allegedly helped to government.

Clarifying the conflicting rumour while featuring on Sunday Politics of Channels TV, Mrs. Dele Alake who served under the administration of Tinubu in Lagos said the former governor had made his money before becoming the governor of Lagos.

The one time foremost Journalist took his host, Seun Okinbaloye and Nigerians down the memory lane on how Tinubu contested for the Lagos West Senatorial District in 1991 and won the election.

He explained that for Tinubu to have contested the election and won in a landslide shows how heavily he must have spent money. If he could spend such an amount on Senatorial election at his first attempt in Politics, it shows that he had been very wealthy before coming to government.

The former commisiner disclosed that no pauper can contest election in Nigeria. Election is a big project that involves a huge amount of money and it is not meant for poor people or strugglers. It is meant for heavily wealthy politicians and Tinubu belongs to that category.

Speaking on how he made his money, Alake denied that Tinubu owns company anywhere in Lagos or Nigeria. He revealed that the APC standard bearer has been buying and selling stocks for years and that alone really fetched him a lot of money.

Alake disosed this while speaking on Channels TV on Sunday.
