If You Want To Win Election, You Have To Stop Visiting Those Who Destroyed The Country- Falana Tells Peter Obi
Human Right Lawyer, Femi Falana, has cautioned the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Peter Obi on the set of people he associates with if truly he means business with his presidential ambition.
The erudite lawyer who was at the National Retreat of the Labour Party held in Abuja on Monday said Peter Obi cannot be visiting the same set of people who destroyed the country and expect to make the difference he is preaching to people in 2023.
Peter Obi is one of the leading presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections. His message has been majorly targeting the younger generation who tagged themselves as OBIDIENTS on social media.
Since he began the movement, the former governor of Anambra state has visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo, former head of State, Ibrahim Babangida and other National leaders across the country.
However, while giving his speech at the Labour Party’s National Retreat in Abuja, Falana told Peter Obi that he cannot be visiting the same set of people percieved to have contributed to the problem of the country and still expect to make a difference at the election.
According to the activist, if Peter Obi wants to grab power from the ruling party in 2023, he must not approach the election in the same way other big political parties are approaching it.
Peter Obi cannot be visiting, dining and wining with people who have brought the country down to where it is and expect Nigerian masses to have faith in his Candidacy.
Femi Falana asked the former governor of Anambra state to visit the union leaders such as the Trade Union Congress, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Nigeria Bar Association, Nigeria Medical Association, Nigeria Union of Journalists and others.
He noted that these are the key players in the Nigerian projects and they are the ones that can help Peter Obi actualize his aim of winning the 2023 general elections.
Falana revealed that other candidates whose Peter Obi wants to contest against are part of the people who made the country what it is today. They have what it takes to buy people’s conscience and scheme the outcome of the election in their favour.
They have deliberately weaponized poverty in the country and that is why it is easy for them to buy people’s votes during election and win the poll.
He asked Peter Obi to distance himself from them and brand himself as a different breed of politician so as to appeal to the interest of Nigerians.
Falana stated this in Abuja on Monday.
