A footage of a yet to be identified dispatch rider stealing a car Engine Control Unit popularly known as brain box is currently trending on social media.
The video which was shared by the Lagos state police command public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin revealed how the suspect carefully carried out the operation without anyone noticing him.
The incident was said to have occurred at a public parking space in Ikoyi, Lagos. In the video which was posted on twitter, the rider was seen darting front and back creating the impression that he was trying to locate his delivery destination.
He parked his motorcycle and was moving around the vicinity apparently taking his time to grab the opportunity to strike after noticing the car to vandalize.
Realizing there was no one monitoring him, he moved straight towards the black saloon car, disappeared underneath and removed the brain box without much stress. He opened his delivery box, dropped it inside and zommed off.
The suspect however didn’t know that everything he was doing was being captured by the CCTV camera planted within the premises.
According to Hundeyin who confirmed the incident, he advised car owners to be very vigilant when they are parking their cars. Not every parking space or public space is safe for parking especially when the car owner is not going to return immediately.
The police spokesman however said the dispatch rider has been declared wanted and asked anyone with reasonable information on how he can be tracked down to provide it.
