I Have Done Well, My Achievements In Imo Will Earn Support For APC- Uzodinma Boasts
The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has boasted that his performance in the state is enough to generate massive support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate in the forthcoming general election.
Uzodinma made this known while answering questions from Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV’s “Politics Today” programme.
The governor was asked if the sweeping movement of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Peter Obi will not affect the chance of APC in the South East especially in Imo state ahead of 2023.
Peter Obi, who is one of the leading presidential candidates for the election, is from Uzodinma’s geopolitical zone and it is expected that the people from that region will leverage on Obi’s opportunity for the South East to actualize their dream of producing Nigerian president.
The people of south East have before now agitated for their turn to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023 having not been privileged to have someone from the region as president since the return to democracy in 1999.
Responding to the question, Senator Hope Uzodinma revealed that 2023 election is not Igbo’s election. It is going to be an election for Nigeria. He said Nigeria will elect a candidate that will serve the nation and champion the course of the entire nation and not an Igbo president or someone who will represent only Igbo people.
According to the governor, Tinubu will get good support in Imo and other states in the East. For Imo state, Uzodinma believed that his achievements across the state will speak volume of the level of support Tinubu and APC will receive in the State.
On Tuesday, the governor hosted the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, in the state for a working visit. Buhari used the opportunity to commission some projects already completed by the governor.
Buhari praised the governor for the good work he is doing in the state.
