How Peter Obi Responded When Asked On CNN How He Will Tackle Insecurity If Elected In 2023

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Dr Peter Obi has given a sneak peak into what Nigerians should expect if elected as president in 2023.

The former governor of Anambra state was on Cable News Network, CNN on Friday where he spoke on a myriad of issues confronting the nation and how he intends to resolve them if fortunately, he gets elected into the office in 2023.

Peter Obi is one of the leading presidential candidates jostling for the plum job and hoping to succeed president Muhammadu Buhari whose tenure is gradually winding down.

While speaking with Zain Asher on CNN on Friday, the former governor of Anambra state said no insecured nation can attract investors that will bring notable development to the country.

He disclosed that Nigeria has battled with security problems for years and if he is elected, he will deploy some strategies that will nip the problem in the bud once and for all.

According to him, the first thing he would do is to reorganize and restrategize the security architecture of the country.

“Those who are due for retirement will be released and allow fresh and young people to come into the system,” he said.

He revealed that he would localize security and allow the state police to thrive. Peter Obi claimed that every crime is local and making use of local security is the most effective way to tackle security problem. He said he plans to create, promote and empower state police if elected.

The former governor of Anambra state also explained that he will make use of modern technology to deal with insecurity. He promised to encourage the security operatives by remunerating them accordingly. He is of the belief that if they are happy, they will be able to fight insecurity.
