At 47, Are You A Youth? Okinbaloye Asked Gov Bello After Being Apponted As Youths Coordinator, Tinubu Campaign Council
Controversies have been trailing the appointment of Kogi State Governor, Governor Yahaya Bello as the Youths Coordinator of the Tinubu Campaign Council.
Bello was announced by the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a letter personally signed by him and addressed to the governor on Sunday.
According to the recent update released by the Nigerian Population Commison, the age bracket of the Nigerian youths is put between 15 and 29 years old.
And going by the last birthday celebrated by Governor Bello, he is obviously out of that bracket and therefore many Nigerians are of the opinion that he is no longer considered as one of many Nigerian youths in question.
Asked by Seun Okinbaloye why he took the appointment when it is obvious he does not belong to the age bracket, Governor Bello while responding to the question on Monday edition of Channels TV Politics Today, said he is still relatively a Nigerian youth.
He disclosed that he is just 47 years old and he still considers himself as a vibrant youth who understands the language of the younger generation.
According to him, his programmes in Kogi State are targeted and tailored towards the youths of the state and the younger generation. He noted that those who surround him in government are Youths.
The governor considers himself as the only governor in Nigeria who connects directly with the youths both within and outside his state.
He identified that special quality as one of the reasons Tinubu is confident to appoint him as National Youths Coordinator of his campaign council and promised to prove that he still belongs to that category of youths he is meant to coordinate.
