Pa Ayo Adebanjo Has Turned Afenifere To His Personal Estate- Tinubu Camp Fires Afenifere Leader

The presidential campaign council of the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has slammed the Leader of Yoruba Social Political Group, Afenifere over the public endorsement and support of Labour Party presidential candidate, Dr. Peter Obi.

The statement was made by the Media Director of the Tinubu Campaign Organization, Bayo Onanuga on Saturday.

Recall that Pa Ayo Adebanjo has openly expressed his support and that of the Afenifere for the former governor of Anambra State. According to Adebanjo, if the presidency must return to the South, then it should be the turn of the South East. He claimed that the region has not been opprtuned to rule the country and they should be allowed the privilege.

He also described Peter Obi as a competent person from the region and noted he has what it takes to fix the country.

Days after the declaration of support, Peter Obi visited Adebanjo in his Ibadan home and both parties have a close door meeting. While Obi described the visit as a regular visit to an elderstatesman in the country, Adebanjo revealed that South East be allowed to succeed president Muhammadu Buhari and further reinstated his support for Obi.

However, this did not seem to go down well with Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his camp who believed that Afenifere is not a personal property of Ayo Adebanjo.

According to the statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Media and Publicity Secretary of the Tinubu campaign organization, Pa Ayo Adebanjo has turned Afenifere into his personal property.

The statement reads partly, “Papa Ayo Adebanjo does not speak for Afenifere. He is free as an individual to support anyone he likes, in furtherance of his democratic right.

“We know for a fact that Baba has turned Afenifere into his personal estate as acting leader. We are also certain that there was nowhere Afenifere, as we know it, met and took a decision to adopt Peter Obi as a candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

“We respect the age of Baba Adebanjo, but he cannot turn Afenifere into his personal franchise for any political alliance”.
