The seemingly insignificant crisis currently rocking the camp of the All Progressive Congress may snowball into an unmanageable scenario if the present situation within the party remains.

Since the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the list of his campaign council members and jetted out of the country, the party is said to have been necked- deep in internal crisis.

The disagreement was said to have been triggered by the campaign council list made available last Saturday comprising 522 members.

According to sources within the party, it was gathered that many of the APC governors are not happy with the names on the list.

The governors who reportedly travelled to Abuja to deliberate on the development were said to have been seriously aggrieved with their presidential candidate and those who were behind the list.

While some of the governors were appointed into key positions in the campaign council, it was gathered that names of their nominees from their respective states were neither on the list nor given significant roles to play in the campaign.

In a phone conversation with a close ally of the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu who is the South west coordinator of Tinubu Campaign Council, RovingNaija gathered that Akeredolu is seriously bitter with the former governor of Lagos State over his decision to remove names of the people he submitted for the campaign council.

The row between Akeredolu and Tinubu was said to center on the choice of the former Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde as a key member of the campaign team from Ondo state.

Abegunde, who is the coordinator of Tinubu Support Group in Ondo has been at loggerheads with Akeredolu over an irreconcilable disagreement between the two. Abegunde resigned his appointment barely two years into the first tenure of the governor.

Rovingnaija gathered that those whose names were sent from the governor in Ondo state were totally excluded from the campaign council.

Same scenario was said to have repeated itself in Kogi where Yahaya Bello holds sway as the National Youths Coordinator of the campaign council. His people were said to have been missing from the list while those who are loyal to the Kogi born Federal Lawmaker from Lagos, Hon. Abiodun Faleke who is the secretary of the Tinubu Campaign Organization were chosen in place of Bello’s nominees.

APC Governors across the federation were said to have had the same experience which consequently triggered their decisions to convene an emergency meeting in Abuja.

They were said to have given Tinubu and the National Working Committee an ultimatum to do the needful over the campaign list or face the dire consequence.

However, a source within the Tinubu Campaign Council disclosed that the APC presidential candidate chose those who have been his loyalists from different states.

“there is nothing wrong in choosing those whom you are comfortable to work with. Tinubu chose his loyalists across the states and I don’t think he has committed any crime in doing that. Most of the names sent by the governors in question are not known by Tinubu. They are people loyal to the governors. How then will they take instructions from the presidential candidate?” The source told RovingNaija.
