Why I Confronted Shettima For Coming To Represent Tinubu During The Signing Of Peace Accord- Sowore

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has thrown more light on his action agaisnt the vice presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress during the signing of Peace Accord in Abuja on Thursday.

The Peace Accord, which was initiated by Bishop Matthew Kukah for the 18 presidential candidates was meant to ensure there is peaceful electioneering activities before, during and after the election.

While all the presidential candidates gathered at the International Conference Center, Abuja to carry out the exercise, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was conspicuously absent from the venue.

He was represented by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima. The move has triggered nationwide criticisms as many Nigerians took to their different social media pages to demand why Tinubu was absent on such an auspicious occasion where his presence was most important.

One of the presidential candidates who was at the venue to sign the Peace Accord, Omoyele Sowore walked up to Shettima where he was sitting and demanded why he was sitting on the seat meant for presidential candidates.

Sowore told Shettima he has no right to sit there. According to Sowore, the front role is meant for presidential candidates and not for their running mates.

The confrontation has been generating a wave of public discourse since Thursday.

Citing his reason for engaging in an open confrontation with the former governor of Borno State, Sowore said it is inappropriate for Shettima to be there.

He said Tinubu was expected to be at the event and not his surrogate. Sowore disclosed that if Tinubu is still a candidate and he finds it difficult to make himself available for national event, what will them happen if he is eventually elected as Nigerian president?

The AAC presidential candidate revealed that if he had sat on the seat before Shettima came in, he would not have stood up for him because Shettima has no right to sit there.

Sowore disclosed this while speaking to the press during the exercise.
