‘I know there is pressure’ – Sanwo-Olu announces increase of salary for Lagos civil servants
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the approval for the commencement of the process to increase salries of state workers.
Addressing the workers on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos will not wait for the federal government before it improves the welfare of workers, adding that he is aware that there is pressure rising from inflation.
“I have looked around and I know that as a country, there is pressure,” he said.
“I know that, as a country, there is a high level of inflation.
“At our cabinet meeting, I instructed the head of service office and the ministry of staff, training, and pensions to start work on how we are going to increase the entire salary of our public servants.”
The announcement is coming less than a few months before the 2023 general election.
