NSCDC Nabs Gang Of Robbers Who Operate Using 10-Year-Old In Katsina

Just like the popular saying goes, “every day is for the thief, one day is for the owner”, a gang of robbers consisting of three persons who specialize in ransacking women’s bags to steal valuable items during social gatherings has finally been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina

The NSCDC spokesman, Katsina state command, DSC Mohammed-Tukur Abdara, revealed on Tuesday in Katsina that the suspects include two minors and a 19-year-old boy.

According to him, the gang uses its youngest member, aged 10, to go into houses where weddings or other ceremonies are taking place to steal valuables from women’s bags while they make use of tricycles to comb the town for homes to attack.

“The 19-year-old suspect rides the tricycle which they normally use for their operations.

“While a 10-year-old boy, whom they normally give clean clothes and even wireless earphones, is used to enter any place where an event is going on, especially wedding or naming ceremonies.

“Because he dresses very clean, people will think he’s an innocent boy and part of the ceremony.

“He then uses the opportunity to search women’s bags and go away with their phones and other valuables,” he added.

Abdara called on parents to always watch the movement of their children and the kind of people they mingle with, so as to insulate them from criminality. (NAN)
