Ridiculous Theft: Trader Bags 2 Years Imprisonment Over Theft Of Plastic Chairs In Jos

A trader in Jos identified as Titus Ishaku, was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment on Wednesday by the Chief Magistrates’ Court in for stealing 24 pieces of plastic chairs.

As ridiculous as the item stolen looks, the trial judge, Malam Lawal Suleiman, sentenced Ishaku after he pleaded guilty to the offense, but gave him an option of a N50,000 fine.

Earlier, Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported on July 26, at the Anglo-Jos police station by the complainant, named Dadung Joshua. He prosecutor told the court that the convict broke into the shop and stole 24 pieces of Royal plastic chairs.

During the police investigation, he said the chairs were recovered and returned back to the owner, but the prosecutor stated that the offense is punishable under sections 333, 337, and 273 of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
