Court Arraigns 4 Men Over Alleged Theft Of N5m Worth Of Property From Firm
Four men who allegedly stole their company’s reinforcement steel worth N5.1 million naira have been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
According to reports, the defendants are a 42-year-old storekeeper identified as Olaleye Akintola; a 27-year-old driver identified as Michael Taiwo; a 52-year-old iron bender identified as Femi Olaoye; and one Wasiu Bashiru who is 44 years old
All 4 are being tried for the offense of conspiracy and stealing, as the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offenses were committed on September 16 at a company on Wemco Road, Ogba, Lagos.
Akeem stated that the defendants stole 10 tonnes of reinforcement steel belonging to the firm as he said that the defendants were to deliver the steel to a site in Ilorin, Kwara State but diverted it to their own location.
According to the prosecutor, the offenses contravenes Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and the defendants in question have, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B. O. Osunsanmi, granted them N300, 000 bails with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until October 31 for mention.
