Customs boss slumps, dies at Kano Airport

A Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) boss, Anthony Ayalogu, is dead.

He died on Monday, aged 57.

Ayalogu, who was the Comptroller in charge of the Trade Facilitation Unit, passed on at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, after falling ill.

A statement issued by the Customs Public Relations Unit, AA Maiwada, said after Ayalogu became unconcious, he was rushed to the Nigerian Air Force Hospital in Kano where he was pronounced dead.

“He was in transit on an official assignment when he suddenly took ill upon arrival at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport and lost consciousness.

“All efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead at 2020 hours on Monday, 17th October 2022 at 465 Nigerian Airforce Hospital Kano. He was aged 57,” he stated.

According to Maiwada, the Comptroller-General of Customs Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), while commiserating with the family and friends of Ayalogu, said the deceased will be sorely missed.

“We pray God grants the Ayalogu family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Ali was quoted as saying.

Ayalogu, who hails from Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, had a Bachelor’s Degree in Botany from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He joined the NCS on September 24, 1991, as Cadet Assistant Superintendent.
