‘It’s scary’ – Nollywood actress Yvonne raises alarm over rising 3rd MB water level
Flood has ravaged many states in Nigeria and it seems there’s still more to come.
Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has noticed the rising level of water on the third mainland bridge.
She expressed fears that the flood is already around residents of Lagos, but it seems not to be a talking point in the media.
Speaking via an Instagram video, the visibly scared movie star also questioned if provisions have been made for the people should the flood eventually hit Lagos, noting how it has continued to ravage many states across the country.
“Guys, good morning. I just saw a video of Third Mainland Bridge. The water below Third Mainland Bridge has risen really high. And I’m still wondering why this is not news.
“And that means there’s flood coming to Lagos. It’s scary. So, I need to understand why it’s not news and if there are provisions for people if it comes. Because, it’s here. You can see it. You can see the video.
“And I’m not even trying to scare anybody but I, personally, I am scared. You guys please, let me know what you think.”
However, the Lagos State Government has dismissed such fear. It said the point at which the video referred to by Jegede was shot was at the foot of the bridge in Oworoshoki, adding that the area was low.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, it nothing to be worried about.
Bello said the Lagos State Government was prepared for any eventuality, restating the earlier warnings to areas that residents should be conscious about the possibility of flooding.
He said even in such areas, the State was fully prepared.
