DSS Denies Raiding A House In Abuja With US Troops
The Department of State Service has denied reports that its agents, with the cooperation of the US military, raided a house in Abuja, the capital of the country.
This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya to the media on Friday. This rebuttal follows reports early this week that DSS officers and American soldiers raided a house in Lugbe area, where they arrested some people suspected to be members of Boko Haram who were in possession of many explosives.
This is coming after the United States issued a statement early in the week warning that there is a possibility of terrorist attack in parts of Nigeria, especially Abuja.
To counter the alert, the Nigerian government downplayed the terror alert from the United States and instead called on the citizens to calm down. However, this did not stop the United States from continuing its calls, ordering its citizens living in Nigeria to leave the country.
“Even though we raided a group of houses in Abuja with other partner agencies, there was no foreign security forces inside,” he said.
PR Nigeria said in an investigation it carried out on the allegations that foreign forces raided the Trademore housing complex, it found that “there was no solid evidence that the US forces arrested anyone in Abuja.”
Ever since the news of the raid by the security forces, the minds of the residents of Abuja have been raised again in uncertainty about what may have happened.
