At Last, Wike And His Allies Settle On Presidential Candidate To Support In 2023

The internal wrangling within the opposition People’s Democratic Party appears to have taken a new turn considering the recent revelation within the camp of the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.

The party, in its effort to emerge winner in 2023, has commenced its campaign with the intention to capture the support of Nigerians in 2023. But with the current in-house issues in the party, the chance of emerging victorious in the forthcoming general elections is getting bleak by the day.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and his allies in their call for justice in the PDP, had called for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The aggrieved Governors and other stakeholders condemned northern dominance in key positions in the party.

The grievances of the Governors saw them pull out of the presidential campaign council of the PDP, insisting that Ayu must resign.

Atiku, however, had insisted that Ayu can only voluntarily resign or the constitution of the party is followed to amend things.

An insider from Wike’s camp that spoke with Daily Independent claimed that Governor Wike and his allies have decided not to vote for Atiku in the coming presidential election.

The source said the aggrieved governors and some PDP stakeholders will vote for a candidate of their choice in 2023.

It was, however, stated that in the presidential election, their choice is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, while in the Senatorial and governorship, they will vote for their candidates.
