PDP chairman slumps, dies at 62

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Zamfara state Dr. Ahmed Sani Kaura has passed away.

The chairman slumped and passed away while attending a peace meeting hosted by the Zamfara state chapter of the Nigeria Council of Ulamah on Wednesday.

“The chairman slumped while he was delivering his speech. He was rushed to a private hospital in Gusau and he was confirmed dead by the doctors,” the PDP publicity Secretary in the state, Abba Bello said.

The Secretary of the party, Faruku Ahmed Gusau, stated that the chairman, who was invited along with PDP stakeholders by the Council of Ulamah to a meeting on how to prevent political thuggery in the state, became ill after delivering a speech at the event.

According to Gusau, he was transported to a nearby private hospital, where physicians confirmed his death.

The Nigeria Council of Ulamah is now planning a conference with all political parties in the state to discuss ways to ensure the smooth holding of general elections in 2023.

The deceased chairman died at age 62, leaving behind two wives and six children.
