RCCG City Of David Shut Out Of Funeral Programme As Family Announces Wigwe’s Burial

The City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has been omitted from the funeral arrangement organized for the Late Group Executive Officer of Accessing Holding Plc., Herbert Wigwe.

The family had on Wednesday announced a 6-day arrangement for Wigwe’s burial rites, alongside Chizoba, his wife; and Chizi, his son.

Recall that earlier this month, Wigwe was involved in a chopper crash in the United States of America, alongside Chizoba and Chizi.

The former chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Mr Abimbola Ogunbanjo, was also aboard the chopper, with all passengers confirmed dead hours later.

According to the burial programme, the funeral ceremony of the Wigwes will begin with a celebration of the professional legacy of Wigwe at Eko Hotel in Lagos on March 4, and will end with an outing service at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, on March 10.

The lives of Chizi and Chizoba will be celebrated in separate ceremonies scheduled for March 5 at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, before a night of tributes a day later at the same venue.

Similarly, a combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish in Lekki, followed by a Christian wake-keeping at Wigwe University, Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State.

The combined funeral and private interment service are scheduled for March 9.

However, in the programme of events released, the RCCG, City of David Parish was clearly missing.

According to recent trending reports, Wigwe’s family reportedly warned the RCCG Parish and its pastorates to stay away from the burial.

The call was coming about 24 hours after the wife of Pastor-in-Charge of the Province, Siju Iluyomade threw an elaborate party at Eko Hotel and Suite to celebrate her 60th birthday.

The moves by the Iluyomades elicited a nationwide condemnation as they were criticized for not taking time to honour the departed business guru who was a major benefactor to the church and its worshipers.
