Nigerians React As FG Says They Can’t Pay Lecturers For Work Not Done

The Federal Government on Saturday gave an explanation as to why it did not pay Academic Staff Union of Universities-employed teachers their full salaries. According to a ministry of finance source, the measure was introduced since it is impossible to pay for work that has not yet been done or finished.

“The Minister then wrote to the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and Planning to request that their wages be reinstated, as they received pro-rata pay for the number of days they worked in October, as of the day their strike ended.

Pro-rata was utilized because they cannot be compensated for work that has not been completed and there are few possibilities for everyone.

Some face book users reacted to this news and here are their reactions;

A. The bulk of these professors and lecturers would continue the course once their absence was over in order to complete it. Instead of supporting them, you people are traveling with the future of our students, and that future will fight you off.

B, A really illogical defense! What transpires in regards to the actions with the postponed exam results. All previous sessions that weren’t paid for should be declared canceled by the federal government, and we should start again.

C. The verdict of the industrial court advises the FG to recognize, honor, and express sympathy for ASUU for a job well done in terminating the strike. However, remember that they took out sizable personal loans, leaving the issue of how they would pay back their lenders.
