Ndudi Elumelu Urges FG To Dredge River Niger To Solve Problem Of Flooding

Following the havoc unleashed on many homes and communities by flooding in recent times, the minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu has urged the federal government to take steps to dredge rivers and waterways as a long-term solution to the menace.

Elumelu made the call while visiting flood victims at the six Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps in his Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Delta State. He also gave cash donations totaling N25 million to each camp to help with their immediate needs for food, medicine, and other necessities.

Elumelu made the announcement while accompanied by other prominent leaders in the district, including Chief Nkem Okwuofu, a well-known political figure in the State, the members of the State House of Assembly who represent Aniocha South, Oshimili South, and North, the chairmen of the four local government areas in the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and the PDP candidates for the House of Assembly in Aniocha South and Oshimili North.

The Ogbuaofu, Oneh, and Head Bridge Camps in Asaba, Oshimili South; the Illah and Ugbolu Camps in Oshimili North; and the Ewulu Camp in Aniocha South of the State were among the places that were visited. 

The minority leaders said that as the people’s representative, he will continue to focus his efforts on the welfare and advancement of the populace.
