Police Deploy Personnel, And Operational Assets To INEC Office In Adamawa.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, Mr Sikiru Akande, has deployed human and operational assets around offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state to prevent a possible attack.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday in Yola by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s public relations officer. The police boss said the deployment serves as another example of the IGP’s commitment efficient security and a favorable environment for the state’s democratic process.

“This deployment would undoubtedly help keep an eye on INEC materials, thwart intrusion attempts into INEC facilities, coordinate prompt responses to distress calls, and crack down on offenders.

In addition, he said, “The CP has equally asked the Divisional Police Police and their supervisory Area Commanders, to promptly guarantee strategic deployment of officers to INEC offices in their respective areas of responsibility.”

Nguroje added that the CP had imposed a complete ban on non-staff entering INEC offices and warned political thugs to stay away from all INEC offices in the state.

The CP was also mentioned in the statement as affirming the command’s steadfast resolve to protect the safety of people and property in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.

Akande also advised the public to be vigilant and to gather intelligence with full cooperation.

Unidentified assailants set fire to INEC offices in certain states, including Imo and Ogun, and destroyed materials, PVCs, and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices.
