Tragedy Hits Ibadan As Building Collapses On Mosque, Kills Teenager

A warehouse under construction in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has collapsed, leaving one person dead.

According to reports, the building, situated in the Soka area of Ibadan, around the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, collapsed on a mosque beside it on Friday, leaving another victim injured.

A resident told newsmen on Saturday that the deceased was identified as Bolaji, a teenager, and the incident was reported at the Sanyo Police Station in Ibadan.

A team of policemen from the station visited the site as part of their investigation.

Some residents told newsmen that the warehouse had suffered a partial collapse in the past while blaming the incident on the incompetence of the builders.

The Police Relations Officer for the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted, said that an investigation had begun into the incident.

He said, “ Investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
