Qatar W/Cup: ‘Get license or face litigation’ – Media company tells viewing centres, advert agencies
Media company New World TV has warned viewing centres and brand agencies of the consequences of using content from the ongoing FIFA World Cup without approval and license.
The Qatar World Cup kicked off on Sunday, November 20 and all first round matches have been played.
While many brands and viewing centres may want to jump into the frenzy, New World TV and Media Business Solutions (MBS) emphasised the need to get approval before doing so.
In a press statement seen on Friday, the companies said they will not hesitate to initiate legal process if anyone is found flaunting the warning.
“The Qatar 2022 World Cup has finally got underway amidst pomp and elegance. Nigerians joined the rest of the world in the celebration. Furthermore, viewing centers are springing up everywhere following which FIFA entitled New World TV and Media Business Solutions (MBS) to organise Public Viewing Events for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in sub-sahara Africa excluding South Africa, subject to the compliance to FIFA Public Viewing Event regulations.
“Consequently, Brand technology limited has been appointed as the representative for the Nigerian territory. Therefore, brand reps, advertising companies and viewing centre operators are to get licensed by New World TV through the Nigerian representative.
“Illegal usage of content without approval is prohibited. The public is advised to comply and avoid embarrassment and litigation.”
