I’m Not Contesting For President Because I’m An Igbo Man- Rochas Okaracha

Former governor of Imo state and Senator representing Imo West senatorial district, Rochas Okaracha has distanced himself from contesting for presidency on the pedestal of South East agitation for president.

Okorocha who is a presidential aspirant under the All Progressive Congress was a special guest on the Monday edition of Journalists Hangout where he spoke on variety of issues confronting the party ahead of 2023.

According to the former governor, zoning presidential ticket to the South East is not a favor to the people of the region but the right thing to do at this time in the interest of equity, justice and fairness.

He noted that since 1999, the region has never produced a president unlike other zones. Clamouring for president at this time is reasonable and that call should be honored by the party in the interest of fairness.

However, Okorocha disclosed that he is not contesting based on that. He is contesting because he is a Nigerian who has the capacity, intelligence and wherewithal to move the country forward.

Asked how sure he is, in winning the ticket, Okorocha said he is not a new name in the Nigerian Politics. He said he had run under ANPP, PDP, and APC before now, saying Okorocha is a branded name in the Nigerian politics.

He said he understands the problems of Nigeria and he has what it takes to fix it. This is why he is coming to the contest. 

Okorocha explained that he has listened to most of the aspirants like him and all they were busy saying is “I will, I will and I will” without discussing how they will bring the solution.

He said if he becomes the president, he will take responsibility, take charge of the situation of the country. Any leader who cannot take responsibility is a failed leader. Okorocha said
