Change: NRC adjusts take off time for Abuja-Kaduna train services

Their services may have resumed, but there are a little bit of adjustment as to their operation.

Owing to the security situation of the country, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the adjustment of the take off schedule for its last two trains from Idu (Abuja) to Rigasa (Kaduna) and vice versa.

Pascal Nnorli, manager, Abuja-Kaduna train service (AKTS), disclosed this to NAN on Friday.

Train services finally resumed on the route after an eight-month suspension due to a terrorist attack.

Prior to the resumption of operations on December 5, 2022, Usman Baba, inspector-general of police (IGP), had ordered the deployment of armed personnel to safeguard the rail stations.

But Nnorli said the take off time for its last two trains was adjusted to ensure early arrival of the passengers to their destinations.

He also said the trains will now depart 30 minutes earlier than its previous take off time.

“The AK3 from Idu (Abuja) which takes off at 3:30 pm to arrive at Rigasa (Kaduna) at 5:38 pm, will now leave at 3:00 pm to arrive at 5:08 pm,” he said.

“Also KA4 train of 2:00 pm. from Rigasa (Kaduna) will now depart from Rigasa at 1:30 pm, and arrive at Idu (Abuja) at 3:37 pm, instead of 4:07 pm.”

Nnorli noted that the amendment will take effect from Monday, December 12, 2022.

The manager, however, reiterated the commitment of the corporation to ensure the safety of its passengers and properties onboard its trains at all times.
