8 Confirmed Dead As Mosque Collapses On Worshippers In Zaria

Not less than eight people were confirmed dead after a mosque building collapsed on worshippers in Zaria Local government area of Kaduna State on Friday.

Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, confirmed the tragic occurrence, revealing that the calamity struck during the observance of the Asr prayer at approximately 4 pm.

Disturbingly, even though a crack in the mosque’s wall had been detected a day before, efforts to address the issue were ongoing with a team of civil engineers actively involved in the repair process.

Amid this sombre situation, the Emir extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families of the victims. He also directed that prayers be conducted outside the mosque until the necessary repairs are concluded.

Furthermore, he stated that the funeral prayers for the departed would be held at 8:30 pm on the same day within the premises of the Emir’s palace.

The victims were buried according to the Islamic rite on Friday.
