Daughter Of Dora Akunyili Emerges The 1st Black Person To Be Chief Medical Officer Of US Hospital
Late former Nigerian Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili has produced the first black person in Dr. Ijeoma to rise to the post of Chief Medical Officer of the Jersey City Medical Center, United States.
In a report published by Punch Newspapers on Friday, Dr. Ijeoma was announced by the RWJ Barnabas Health facility through a statement published on its official website on Thursday.
According to the statement, Dr. Ijeoma Akunyili is the first Black person to serve in that role.
Reacting to the development, the MD, Executive Vice President/Chief Medical and Quality Officer at WJBarnabas, Dr. Andy Anderson disclosed: “Her experience managing multi-specialty physician groups in integrated health care systems will help support Jersey City Medical Center in providing comprehensive health care throughout the community.
“She has a wealth of experience and knowledge”
Dr. Ijeoma is the daughter of the late former minister of information, Dr. Dora Akunyili who was also at a time the Director General of National Agency for Food And Drug Commission, NAFDAC.
