To Reverse Osun Tribunal Verdict Will Be A Daunting Task – Femi Falana
If the position of constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Femi Falana over the verdict of Osun State Election Petition Tribunal is anything to go by, the sacked governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke may have to start kissing the seat of power goodbye from now.
Falana, while commenting on the development revealed that it will be a difficult challenge for the lawyers of the Osun State Governor to prove a point that will reverse the judgement.
RovingNaija News had earlier reported that the tribunal removed Adeleke from office for overvoting at more than 700 polling units during the governorship election and then pronounced the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, the winner of the gubernatorial election that took place on July 16, 2022.
Falana, while speaking on Arise TV interview on Sunday, encouraged voters in Osun State to file a claim for damages against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) because of the wasted votes.
He stated that the voters in specific locations should file a lawsuit against INEC for damages because the commission had squandered their ballots.
“Looking at the judgement, I believe very strongly that it is going to be a daunting task to overturn the judgement. INEC has to be held completely responsible for what happened.
“INEC will have to go back to the drawing table so that we will not have this experience. INEC will have to put its house in order, If we have this in a presidential election, where you issue one or two reports, it will have a crisis of monumental proportion.”
