Tambuwal’s aide dies after stampede at Atiku’s rally

Aishat Maina, Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Female Education, is dead.

She reportedly died after a stampede at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential rally in Sokoto state on Tuesday.

The stampede happened at the exit gate of Giginya Stadium, the venue of the rally.

She was rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto for treatment, but unfortunately, she died a few minutes after her admission.

“A motorcyclist fell down from his bike at the exit way of the stadium and that caused a serious stampede, with people falling upon one another. She was one of the victims,” Daily Trust quotes a source as saying.

The deceased was the former chairperson of the National Woman Journalists Association of Nigeria (NAWOJ), Sokoto State chapter.

She leaves behind three children and parents.
