At 98, I Have Never Experienced The Kind Of Difficulty Nigeria Is Going Through Currently- Tanko Yakasai

Tanko Yakasai, a Kano based elderstatesman and founding father of Arewa Consultative forum has given his voice to the current economic situation Nigeria is battling with.

Since the advent of the current cash crunch occasioned by Naira redesign Policy of the central bank of Nigeria and fuel Scarcity that held the nation by the jugular, Nigerians have continued to lament bitterly on the state of the Nation through various platforms available for them.

Speaking recently on the situation is a Nonagenerian elderstateman, Tanko Yakasai who expressed his dissatisfaction over the state of the Nation.

The Kano born peace advocate who featured on the Saturday edition of Arise News Morning Show programme lamented that since he was born about 98 years ago, he has never experienced the kind of scarcity Nigerians are currently subjected to.

He said on Arise TV: ” At 98, I have never experienced the kind of difficulty Nigeria is going through currently.”

Speaking further, he noted: “The scarcity is not that of fuel alone but of currency that is needed by everybody; people can’t buy foodstuffs to eat.” I think you need to be told that I’m 98 years old and I’ve been in the politics of the country since the colonial era. 

“I am one of those who fought for the independence of Nigeria and am still fighting for peace and democracy in the country, and since then I have never experienced the kind of difficulty this country is battling through currently since the end of the Second World War.”
