Labour Party beat Enugu State gov. to senate seat
Labour Party (LP) has secured its first seat in the National Assembly.
Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Saturday lost his senatorial ambition to the candidate of LP, Okechukwu Ezea.
Ugwuanyi, who is currently completing his eight years of two tenures as the governor of Enugu State had represented Udenu/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives for three terms of 12 years.
According to results of the election announced Sunday evening by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Labour Party candidate, Okey Ezea, defeated Ugwuanyi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to emerge Senator-Elect for Enugu North Senatorial District.
