Politicians Don’t Like You Whether Igbo Or Yoruba, They Only Care About Their Pockets- Peter Okoye

Sensational hip-hop star, Peter Okoye of the famous Psquare music group has reacted to the ongoing conversation on ethnicity and how politicians are using it in some states to divide the electorates and canvass for votes ahead of governorship election on Saturday.

Okoye, who is one of the die-hard fans of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi revealed that he is an Igbo man but married to a Yoruba woman.

The argument on ethnicity became rife especially in Lagos following the overwhelming votes garnered in Lagos by the Labour Party during the presidential election.

Many were however of the opinion that most of the votes were cast by Igbo residents in Lagos. They were said to have voted for their man ahead of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressive Congress who later emerged as President-Elect.

The development was said to have now been narrowed down to the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhode-Vivour who is challenging the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Some politicians in Lagos are allegedly peddling the narrative that the LP candidate, whose mother is an Igbo woman and also married from the same tribe, may likely have a soft-spot for Igbo residents in Lagos if he becomes the govenernor.

Reacting to the issue, Peter Okoye said: “Politicians don’t like you whether Igbo or Yoruba, they only care about their pockets.”

He made this known on his verified twitter handle on Wednesday morning.

He wrote: “I am an lgbo man married to a Yoruba woman! Igbos do not hate Yorubas.

“Neither do Yorubas hate Igbos.

“Politicians are using tribe as an excuse to cover their evil

“They dont like you whether Igbo or Yoruba.

“They only care about their pockets. Be wiser,” he counselled.
