What Festus Keyamo Said On Appeal Court’s Rejection Of Peter Obi’s Request To Stop BVAS Reconfiguration

Festus Keyamo, the chief spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council, has reacted to the Appeal Court ruling that denied Peter Obi’s request to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission to reconfigure the Bimodal Voters Accreditations System.

The ruling was delivered on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Labour Party presidential candidate had filed a lawsuit to stop the commission from going ahead with the reconfiguration of the machine to prevent possible loss of data that can be used as evidence in the case bothering on irregularities in the conduct of the February 25 presidential election.

Although the appellate court granted Obi’s request to inspect the sensitive materials used in the conduct of the election, it outrigly denied his move to stop the INEC in the reconfiguration exercise.

Reacting to the ruling, Festus Keyamo said no one can stampede the judiciary through blackmail. Law does not follow trends on social media, he said.

The minister of Labour and Employment made it known on his verified twitter handle shortly after the judgement was delivered in Abuja.

He wrote: “You cannot stampede the judiciary by blackmail. Law does not follow trends on Social Media, mostly uninformed and illiterate. Law is not emotions. Law is law. INEC: 1 – Peter Obi:0”
