Why Do Nigerian Politicians Call For The Annulment Of Free & Fair Elections After Losing? – Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation and a member of media team of the All Progressive Congress presidential campaign council, APCPCC, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the widespread condemnation that greeted the recently conducted presidential election in Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode asked a critical question bothering on suggestions by some aggrieved politicians for the anullment of the election which produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress as President-elect.

Tinubu defeated Peter Obi of the Labour party and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party according to the announcement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The announcement of the result and consequent declaration of Tinubu as winner has continued to generate a whirlwind of reactions as the two opposition candidates alleged that the election was fraught with irregularities.

Commenting on the development on Friday, Fani-Kayode asked: “Why do Nigerian Politicians call for the annulment of a free and fair election after losing?”

He asked the question on his verified twitter handle.

He wrote: “Why do Nig. politicians call for the annulment of a free & fair election after losing & for the scrapping of the Electoral Commission that conducted it? Zik did so after Shagari’s 1979 election, Nzeribe did so after Abiola’s 1993 election & Obi did so after BAT’s 2023 election.”
