Shehu Sani Names 3 Islamic Clerics Who Challenged Terrorists Ideology In The North & Got Assassinated

Former Nigerian Senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly has refreshed the memories of Nigerians on the devastating effects of insurgency in the northern part of the country.

The Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party made a revelation about some Islamic clerics who challenged the ideology of terrorists in the region and ended up getting killed in the process.

He disclosed this on his verified Twitter handle on Monday.

According to him, it’s over a decade that insurgency has ravaged the northern part of the country and all efforts to wipe them out by successive governments have not been successful.

Until recently when it spread to other parts of the north and lately in the south, insurgency has been majorly in existence in the North Eastern part of the country.

The terrorist group has vehemently stood against the western education and every other thing that depicts western life. Their plan is to impose their own ideology on the people within their domain.

Commenting on the situation on Monday, Shehu Sani identified three Islamic clerics who have been murdered while trying to challenge the terrorists ideology.

The clerics include; Shikh Jaafar Adam who was killed in 2007, Sheikh Awwal Albani murdered in 2014 and Sheikh Imam Ahmed in 2011.

He wrote: “In over a decade of Insurgency in Northern Nigeria, three Islamic Clerics have stood out in challenging the terrorists ideology and they were all assassinated and they are; Sheikh Jaafar Adam 2007 (Kano),Sheikh Awwal Albani 2014 (Zaria) and Sheikh Imam Ahmed 2011 (Borno),” he wrote.
